Harris Family Get Together 6/26/10

We headed over to the other side of the state to spend some time with my Dad & step-mom, Peg. We drove over Saturday morning. While Dad & Peg got things set up we enjoyed some time outside. Daddy showed Marc how to hit the ball with the bat. After a few swings and misses, he had a great batting average!Samantha went for a walk with Grandma Peggy and ran all over the back yard. She was looking pretty tired so we decided to lay her down for a nap before all the other people came over. It took a little coaxing, and me pretending to be asleep too, but she finally fell asleep. When she finally gave she, she completely conked out!! She slept for a little less than 2 hours and I am not sure she even moved her fingers!!Saturday afternoon-evening all the other family members came over. We enjoyed catching up with everyone and being proud of our little, and not so little ones! :)
Marc always enjoys playing with his cousin Hailey. We were amazed at how good and for how long they played trains together!
Samantha on the other hand had to be outside, no matter how hot it was! She was ALL about the bubbles that afternoon. She "blew" them on her own (she can't really make any bubbles come out, but she enjoys blowing them), with Grandma Peggy, and with Uncle Jeff .
After the company left, it was time to have a little winding down time with Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Jeff. Grandpa read Samantha a book.....
and Uncle Jeff helped Marc do some of his Puzzle Buzz magazine.
The kids' normal bedtime is about 8:00. That night they got to bed about 10:30pm. Needless to say, they didn't lay awake very long! Samantha had her first experience with sleeping in a sleeping bag. I was going to have her sleep in the roll-away, but I forgot the bed rails so she slept in the sleeping bag instead. She was so tired so never tried to get up.
We laid Samantha inside the sleeping bag with her head on the pillow. When we woke up the next morning she was laying on the floor between the sleeping bag and the pillow. Silly girl!

It was a nice relaxing weekend spent with family members! :-)

Happy Father's Day! 6/20/10

We had a very relaxing Father's Day. We went to church and then met my Mom and Grandma for lunch. At lunch we gave Marc his gifts. After lunch we went and saw Toy Story 3 in 3D. It was Samantha's first movie in a theater.
Samantha did great and the movie was great! Samantha sat pretty well, leaving her glasses on most of the time. She didn't get squirmy until about the last 20 minutes or so. I had a bowl so I could ration her popcorn to keep her busy when she got antsy.

Overall, it was a good day. I hope Daddy enjoyed his special day. He is a great Daddy to our kids. I couldn't ask for a better Daddy for them!

Park Time! 6/19/10

We were invited to a friend's 40-20-10 party in Townsend Park. She was turning 40, celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary, and celebrating the fact that she died on the operating table 10 years and is still here and doing well! :-)

There was a creek running through the park. Of course my little boys had to go and explore the water. We knew ahead of time about the creek so we took the Crocs for the boys, but us girls don't have Crocs, so we didn't walk trough the creek. Daddy took Samantha in the water for a few minutes and I was able to get a cute pic of them all. While the boys went for a walk down the creek, I took Samantha for a walk. While on our walk I came across some pretty flowers, so of course I had to take some pictures. ;-)
The boys were having fun battling the current of the water as it went under the bridge.
And Samantha had fun watching them!
It was a fun day helping a friend celebrate so many milestones!

Making Daddy's Father's Day Gift 6/16/10

We tried a new technique for making Daddy his Father's Day card/gift this year. I have seen it done many places before but never tried it, until now.
The first step was to spray a layer of shaving cream on a cookie sheet. Then put drops of food coloring scattered around. Then use a stick to swirl the coloring around. The 2nd step was to place a piece of card stock on top of the shaving cream mixture and press down, making sure the whole paper is covered with shaving cream. (Samantha really got into this part)
The final step is to wipe all of the shaving cream off the paper. What you have left is a tie-dye looking effect on the paper.
After it was dried, the kids used a bingo dauber to fill in a #1 Dad stencil.

Then they went to town decorating it however they wanted to.
It wasn't much, but it was made by the kids! :-)
