Decorating Day

It is a tradition that the weekend after Thanksgiving, we put up our tree. Since our tree is artificial, we can put it up early and have more time to enjoy it. Marc is tall enough this year to out the top of the tree on!The first thing we have to do is spread the branches out, Samantha helped me do a couple of them and then she decided they they were too prickly.
Last year after Christmas we found small Christmas trees to put in each of the kid's rooms. Samantha's tree is pink with Disney Princess ornaments. Marc's is a CARS tree, but I have not gotten a picture of him with his yet.
Samantha LOVED helping to put ornaments on the tree! :)
This was too cute to pass up...I HAD to get this picture, of my two little helper elves decorating our tree together. :)
Samantha had fun looking at the boxes and helping us decide what ornament should be put up next.
It has become kind of a tradition that Marc put the tree topper on, with Daddy's lift of course.
After all of the ornaments, lights, and garland were on, it was time for the little elves to hang some candy canes on the tree. These were easier for Samantha than the ornaments, so she LOVED doing that part. While the were hanging them on the tree, I captured them "eating" one each.
This is ABSOLUTELY one of my most favorite pictures I have ever taken of the kiddos!!!
During the rest of the weekend and week, we finish up the rest of the decorating. We got some of the inside decorations done and the outside lights done. Our yard "twinkles" and our house is decorated. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I know I am late posting this post, but I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! :)
We enjoyed eating a yummy Thanksgiving "linner" with great family.
Every year we have some sparkling grape juice (since none of us drink). this year Samantha decided she wanted to try some. Needless to same, she was quite shocked by the fizziness!!
After dinner while we were cleaning up and before dessert, Samantha decided it was time for a nap so daddy took her in the living room and rocked her to sleep. I was very jealous of all the snuggles Daddy got!
While we were cleaning up, Uncle Gary had fun with Marc. He taught him that ice cream is really frozen emulsified fat. ;)
To keep with tradition of MY Grandpa Oosta, my Uncle Gary, and Me, Marc had to have a piece of all 5 desserts. :)
One of the desserts was peppermint stick ice cream. Samantha enjoyed it...but got a lot of it on her face.
After dinner, Samantha decided it was time to color a picture to decorate Great Grandma's refrigerator.
Since Great Grandma was not able to attend Marc's birthday party, she gave him his final present on Thanksgiving. It was an I Spy tube. It is filled with lots of colored beads and buried within the beads is a list of about 30 items to search for. Marc and daddy had fun "spying" some of the items.
After some resting time, we all played Marc's new Uno Spin game. While we played that, Samantha played her own "card game".
Uncle Gary took Samantha round the house and showed her all of the "babies" in the house by looking in to the mirrors.
Aunt Sari and Uncle Gary brought a Thanksgiving book for each of the kids. Marc had fun reading his book about the First Thanksgiving and Samantha enjoyed listening to "5 Silly Turkeys".
We enjoyed our day of good food and even better family time. :) We have a lot to be Thankful for!

Thanksgiving Helper

The day before Thanksgiving we had a "baking day" to get ready. We were in charge of bringing a few things and we decided that we would make them all on Wednesday to keep them fresh. :) I had the cutest little helper ever!
We made pumpkin bread....and cranberry bread.....

and cheesey potatoes.......
and pecan pie.
Marc and I had a lot of fun spending the day cooking and baking together. We made our house smell REALLY good. :)
