A Day for Change!

We had an ortho doctor check-up on Friday afternoon. He took more x-rays and decided it was time to move on to a different, less restrictive splint for Samantha to wear. She gave me so snuggles as we were waiting for it to be molded. They took a plastic material, soaked it in scalding hot water to make it pliable, and then molded it to the size and shape of Samantha's arm. She screamed!! It was so hot on her sensitive skin that it almost burned her.
The total time in the office was 2 hours!! They said it took that long because they customize every one's splints so it takes longer. **rolls eyes**. Luckily I had my Mom there to help keep the 2 kids occupied and happy for that length of time. What made it even worse was we were there at nap time. Poor little girl fell asleep in the car on the way home. I laid her down and she slept for about another 2 hours!
After she woke up I was able to get a picture of her new splint.
That night she was so funny...she was completely fascinated by the fingers on her left hand...they have been buried in her old splint for about 3 weeks.
I am so pleasantly surprised to see her actually using her fingers on her left hand today. :)
Doctor says he thinks when we go back in 2 weeks, that we will be all done with splints!!! :) :) :)

Fun Day at School!

On Friday, Marc had a "super fun" day at school. It was dress up as your favorite nursery rhyme character day, grandfriend's day, and book fair.

Marc dressed up as Old McDonald had a farm. He was the cutest little farmer ever!Marc had scoped out 4 books that he wanted from the book fair. Do you think he got them from Grandma???? Of course...plus some!! ;)
Marc and Grandma Terri on Grandfriend's Day.
He was so excited to have "3 fun things in 1 day!" :)

Yummy!

Every year in the fall we make chex mix. Last year, we let Marc help mix the ingredients for the first time. We let him help again.
We decided he was old enough that we let him help us mix it while it was cooking. So far we have enjoyed eating it. Yummy! Marc says that it is extra good because it has a special ingredient...love. :)

St Peter's Preschool/Church Fall Fest

The preschool that I work at has a Fall Festival with the church. Last year was the first year the preschool joined with the church's fest and we were in CA, so we had fun going to it for the first time this year.

There were candy estimation jars for the kids to guess....a Plinko game to play to win candy, a watch, or a tattoo....

a cupcake walk (which Marc did about 10 times in a row trying to win a cupcake)

Samantha wanted a cupcake like her brother got.
They also had a game where the kids had to try to toss the checker into the box.
The preschool staff provided ice cream treats for the families to enjoy.

Marc's other favorite game was one where somebody held a gummy worm tied to a string and he had to catch using just his mouth!
It was a very simple fall fest but I think it was enjoyed by all! :)

Kindergarten Make-n-Take Night

Chandler Woods had a kindergarten Make-n-take night last week. Marc was excited to see his teacher again. There were 3 different crafts, a snack, and an open part of the gym for the kids to run around in. One of the crafts was a tambourine made out of paper plates and beans. Samantha was able to do this craft as well.

The kids could make sock puppets...

and masks made out of a paper plate.
While Marc was doing his crafts, Bumpa kept Samantha entertained by making funny faces at her. ;)
Marc had a good time making crafts with some of his friends from school.
