Oh, My! I Have A First Grader!!! 6/9/10

Oh, My! the tine has come......my little man's kindergarten graduation!!!! Before I get to the pictures of Marc's ceremony I want to tell you about some of the decorations around the room.
A Chandler Woods Mom made the cutest cupcakes for the kids and families to eat after the ceremony.Throughout the year, us parents helped the kids make a picture for each month using their hand or foot print. For example, the footprint turned into a ghost for October, their hand print into a turkey for November, etc. The last page of the book was a page completely covered in a collage of pictures of them over the year. The book had a great cover too!
The other decoration I loved was this map covered with all 84 kindergartners' and prints! :-) (Marc's is the red one right above Fl. on the line.)
After some technical difficulty, the kids proceeded down the aisle to the risers.

After the pictures, the kids did a great job of singing 4 very cute songs!
The teacher asked each child what they wanted to be when the grew up. As the teacher read them out loud, the child stood up. Marc said he wanted to be a teacher when he grows up. ***beaming Mom here***

Marc chose a spider web cupcake. There was a spider made out of a mini Oreo cakester. He ate it before we got a picture of it.
He was very proud of his diploma! :-)

We are a very proud set of parents! Super proud of how much our little man has learned this year!
We took this same picture on the first day of school. We will take it the first and last day of school every year. It is a good way to keep track of how much he grows and changes every year.
Each kid got a kindergarten graduation shirt to wear during graduation and then again to the picnic the next day. Each of the 4 classes had a different color. As you can see, Marc's class had red.

We had a great year with Mrs. Grimm. Marc loved her as did daddy and I. I was fortunate enough to be able to help in his classroom once a week so I had a chance to get to know Mrs. Grimm. She is a super sweet lady who truly cares for her students! We will miss her A LOT over the summer and then next year. Good thing Marc's 1st grade classroom is right across the hall! ;-)
